WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) — A 33-year-old Waterloo woman has been arrested, accused of starting a fire in her downtown apartment.

Black Hawk County jail records say Alysha Engelhardt remained in custody on Thursday. Online court records don't list the name of her attorney in the case. Engelhardt is charged with arson and with failure to appear in court on another case.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the fire began in a pile of clothes a little after 6 a.m. Wednesday. Waterloo Police Capt. Tim Pillack says Engelhardt's roommate soon noticed the fire and smothered the flames before firefighters arrived.

No injuries were reported.
