U.S. Marshals Arrest Western Iowa Fugitive in Texas
SIOUX CITY, Iowa - The United States Marshalls arrested a Western Iowa man accused of shooting a police officer. They found Jamal Dean, 22, in Texas.
Police said Officer Kevin McCormick tried stopping Dean on Monday night for a traffic violation. McCormick was still in his cruiser when a man stepped out of the car and opened fire with a rifle. McCormick was hit in the head by a bullet fragment.
A local hospital treated and released Officer McCormick. Friday, authorities announced they were widening the the search area to Omaha and Denver. Authorities believed Dean has ties to the Omaha area.
Dean faces Attempted murder charges. He is currently in a Texas jail.
