DUBUQUE, Iowa (AP) — Alliant Energy says a malfunctioning transformer has caused 2,200 customers to lose power in Dubuque.

The company says the power went out Thursday morning. The cause of the malfunction, near the intersection of University Avenue and Asbury Road, is unclear.

Alliant Energy spokesman Justin Foss says it will take several hours for the transformer to be repaired. Crews also are trying to reroute power.
