Thousands Lose Power As Severe Storms Move Through Eastern Iowa

CORALVILLE, Iowa - An line of severe storms knocked out power to thousands of customers and caused some damage while moving through Eastern Iowa Thursday.

In Coralville alone, 2,900 MidAmerican Energy customers lost power shortly after 6 p.m. More than 1,300 Alliant Energy customers in Linn County lost power as the storms moved through.

Reports of tree and power line damage stretch from northern Benton County south through Johnson County.

There was also structural damage to homes in a North Liberty subdivision, located near Deerfield Park.

The storms knocked out power to thousands in central Iowa, minor damage was also reported.
