CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Officials are investigating after the discovery of a deceased adult male under the Squaw Creek Bridge Saturday morning.

According to authorities, a hunter found the middle-aged white male in the creek that intersects with Mount Vernon Road SE around 8:37 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials were not sure how long the body had been there.

The death is being considered suspicious, and the body is being transported to Ankeny where an autopsy will be performed, officials said. Authorities would not comment on the condition of the body, or if there were any obvious signs of trauma.

Officials are awaiting to release the name until next of kin have been notified.

The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office.
