CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – An area snow, producing brief periods of heavy snow, and strong winds will cause reduced visibilities this evening. This has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a blizzard warning for several counties in south-central Iowa until 9 p.m.

The line of snow, accompanied by high winds, will produce white conditions for an extended period of time making travel dangerous.

One to two inches of snow is possible as the system pushes through. Winds will increase, with gusts up to near 50 mph possible.
