Sioux City Man Charged in Shooting Death, Injury
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) - A 26-year-old man has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder in a Sioux City shooting that killed a man and a woman and left another man injured.
The Sioux City Journal reports that Juan Nino-Estrada, of Sioux City, would face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole if convicted.
Nino-Estrada made his initial court appearance Friday in Woodbury County District Court. Authorities say he was found by police with a gunshot wound to his right leg after the Thursday night shooting.
Bond was set at $2 million. His preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 18.
Police say they have not identified the man and woman killed. Another man, Luis Sanchez, was shot and stabbed but is expected to survive.
