Sheriff Investigating Jefferson County Shooting

LOCKRIDGE, Iowa - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting. Deputies say they responded to a 911 call of a man who was shot at 105 West Main Street Wednesday.

When officers arrived they found 46-year-old David Bittner unresponsive with a gunshot wound in his stomach. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is not releasing Bittner's condition at this time. As of Thursday morning, no charges had been filed.

The Iowa State Patrol, Lockridge Police, Mount Pleasant Police, Iowa State Patrol, Henry County Sheriff's Office, Midwest Ambulance, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations all are assisting Jefferson County.
