FORT DODGE, Iowa (AP) - The Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations says the remains of a man have been found in a roadside ditch in Webster County and that the death is being considered a homicide.

The DCI says someone reported possible human remains on Wednesday evening, and Webster County deputies who responded found the remains of an unidentified white man.

The remains were sent to the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office for identification and the cause of death.

The death was ruled a homicide Thursday afternoon.

A number of agencies are involved in the investigation, including the DCI, Webster County Sheriff's Office, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Fort Dodge police and Iowa State Patrol.
