Police: Woman Kicked Officer in the Groin

NORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) — A Cedar Rapids woman has been accused of kicking a North Liberty police officer in the groin.

North Liberty police say it pulled over a vehicle Tuesday night that was driving recklessly. Police say the driver of the car, 32-year-old Jessica L. Hatfield, smelled of alcohol and had slurred speech and poor balance.

Hatfield is accused of kicking an officer in the groin as police attempted to give her a field sobriety test.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen says Hatfield has been charged with driving under the influence and assault on a peace officer, both serious misdemeanors. She was released from the Johnson County Jail on Wednesday. Court records do not list an attorney.
