Man Breaks into Apartment, Throws Party and Steals Car

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A Michigan man is accused of breaking into an Iowa City apartment in June, throwing a party and stealing the resident's car.
Iowa City police responded to an apartment at 2401 Highway 6 E. on June 16 for a report of a trespass. However, as police investigated, they learned a break-in had occurred.
According to criminal complaints, 22-year-old Fazal A. Choudhury, of Hamtramck, Mich., gained access to the victim's apartment, used it as a "party house" and stole several items from the occupant. Police said Choudhury tried to pawn the occupants computer at a local pawn shop, but was turned away. Other items the victim reported stolen - including a Hyundai Sonata - have not been recovered, police said.
Police said Choudhury left a large plastic baggie of marijuana in the apartment, as well as other items that linked him to the scene. Additionally, police spoke with witnesses who placed Choudhury inside the apartment.
Choudhury has been arrested and faces charges of second-degree theft, third-degree burglary and possession of marijuana.
