Passing Bicyclist Hurt In Iowa City Fire

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- One person went to the hospital after a weekend vehicle fire in Iowa City.
Fire officials responded to a van fire in an alley behind 701 Grant St. shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday. While crews were working to put out the fire, a passing bicyclist struck a fire hose with his bike and fell to the ground, according to police.
Iowa City police Sgtt. Vicki Lalla said records indicate that the person was taken to the hospital for treatment to his injuries. Lalla said the individual's name is not listed in any public documents, but police did return his bike to his home.
It’s not clear how badly the biker was injured.
