CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Those driving on 2nd Avenue Southeast in Cedar Rapids will find some changes starting Tuesday morning.

A section of that avenue, from 7th Street to 10th Street, changed from one way to two way Tuesday. This is close to the Physicians Clinic of Iowa Medical Pavillion.

The change will help fire trucks entering the new fire station which is still under construction.

It will also give drivers direct access to Interstate 380 from PCI. Some city officials said this could be just the beginning of changes to all one-way streets in Cedar Rapids.

Council Member Scott Olson, of District 4, said portions of 4th and 5th Avenue Southeast near the restored Ground Transportation Center will also convert to two way streets because of the need of city buses. That change will probably happen sometime in 2014.
