One Person Dead and Another Injured in Crash
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – One person is dead and another injured during an early morning crash. Cedar Rapids police closed down the northbound lanes on Interstate 380, as officers investigate the crash site. Lanes were reopened a little after 6:30 a.m. Two vehicles collided head-on I-380, just south of Wright Brothers Blvd SW at 3:20 a.m.
The driver of one vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for life threatening injuries. Based on witness accounts and the preliminary investigation, it appears one of the vehicles was traveling south bound in the north bound lane of I-380 before the crash.
The crash is still under investigation. The names of the victims won't be released until family members are notified.
