Black Hawk County Sheriff's Arrest 31-Year-Old in Arson Fire

ELK RUN HEIGHTS, Iowa - A Waterloo man faces arson charges after a fire damaged three dump trucks.

The fire started at 11:39 p.m. at the Frickson Backhoe and Towing on Lafayette Road in Elk Run Heights. Waterloo Firefighters said the three dump trucks were heavily damaged.

Police spotted a suspicious van near the scene and pulled it over. Inside, police say they found evidence from the fire.

Evansdale police arrested the driver Steven Edwards, 31, of Waterloo. He faces Burglary in the Third Degree, Three counts of Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, One count of Criminal Mischief in the 5th Degree and Arson in the Second Degree. He is in the Black Hawk County Jail.
