CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The search for Iowa's outstanding Senior Volunteer is underway, and organizers need your help.

Home Instead Senior Care’s Salute to Senior Service program is searching for outstanding senior volunteers in the Cedar Rapids area. Research conducted by Home Instead Senior Care shows that 52 percent of seniors volunteer their time through unpaid community service.

Senior volunteers work every day to make a difference in the community – giving back to schools, community organizations, in faith communities, senior centers, hospice and hospitals, Branch Owner of Home Instead Senior Care, Karen Huber said.

"They do so without asking for anything in return, but we think they deserve some recognition, and we hope your viewers will help us identify deserving seniors," Huber said.

Nominees must be 65 years of age or older and volunteer at least 15 hours a month. Nominations will be accepted at SalutetoSeniorService.com. You can call also call Home Instead Senior Care’s at (319)-247-0400, workers then will l mail your nomination form.
