Name Released in Fatal Marion Crash
MARION, Iowa - A crash on Friday night has killed a 25-year-old man from Van Buren, Kansas.
AirCare had to take Troy Cowan to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment Friday evening around 9:15 p.m. after the crash on Hindman Road. He died as a result of his injuries Monday night at 10 p.m.
Linn County Authorities said Cowan was riding in a car with Austin Keilholtz, 24, of Cape Coral, Fla. at the time of the crash. Keilholtz was driving north on Hindman Road just under a mile from County Home Road when he lost control on Friday. Keilholtz's 2005 GMC Yukon went off the road and into the ditch on the east side of the road where it hit a power pole.
The crash injured four other people, all are expected to survive. The injured include Keilholtz, 22-year-old Harden Kemper of Damascus, Ark. and 22-year-old Ashley Block of Marion. All were taken by ambulance to Cedar Rapids hospitals. Corey Merritt, 24, of Cape Coral, Fla. was taken to UIHC by ambulance.
