Morning Car Chase in Ends with Crash, One Person Killed
PLEASANT HILL, Iowa (AP) — Authorities in central Iowa say a driver who led police on a car chase that ended with a crash has died.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says 29-year-old Melissa Sue Toillion, of Des Moines, died at the scene Sunday. The chase began at 1:30 a.m. when Toillion failed to stop her vehicle for law enforcement. The vehicle later landed on its side on the front yard of a house. Authorities identified the vehicle's passenger as 22-year-old Justin Formaro, of Des Moines. He was seriously injured in the crash. Formaro and the Toillion are suspected of stealing from a convenience store before the crash. Police say there was additional damage to neighboring yards and at least one utility pole. Most Popular
