CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The latest round of snowfall to affect Eastern Iowa will overspread the area from west to east Tuesday evening.

The light -to-moderate snow will start falling between 7 p.m. & 10 p.m., between 7 and 9 p.m with heavier snowfall rates occurring between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. The snow should begin to taper off by sunrise Wednesday.

Total accumulations will be in the 1-3” range between Interstate 80 and Highway 20, with isolated higher amounts possible. Areas outside of that corridor could experience between a trace and 1” of snow.

Roads will become snow-covered into the late evening and overnight hours, with little improvement into Wednesday morning as winds increase out of the northwest at 10-20 mph, causing some blowing and drifting of a very powdery snow. Additionally, temperatures will fall through the day into the single digits, with wind chills well below zero.
