CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A man who had been missing from the Marshalltown Work Release Facility since August is back in custody.

Iowa Department of Corrections spokesman Fred Scaletta said 40-year-old Casey E. Sheriff has been apprehended and is in custody at the Marshall County Jail.

Sheriff was placed on escape status on Aug. 1 after failing to report and return from his job. He had been transferred to work release on July 23 after being paroled for a five year sentence for third-offense domestic assault. He began serving the sentence on July 19, 2012.
