Men Force Way Into Des Moines Home, Punch Baby Sitter

By Richard Pratt

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Des Moines police say a group of men forced their way into a home and punched a baby sitter, pointed a gun at a 4-year-old and stole a puppy.

The Des Moines Register reports four or five men kicked in the front door of a northeast Des Moines home late Wednesday.

A 16-year-old baby sitter was in the home, watching over two sleeping children, ages 4 and 7.

Police say the men demanded drugs, then searched the house.

During their search, they punched and kicked the baby sitter and pointed a gun at the 4-year-old when he awakened and walked out of his room. They told him to return to bed.

They stole a pit bull puppy before leaving.

The children's parents gave police the names of several suspects.
