MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (AP) — A central Iowa man is accused of slashing a truck with a samurai sword during a fight with his ex-fiancee.

The Marshalltown Police Department says 36-year-old William Thompson tried to break into the woman's home Sunday after he saw her and a male acquaintance changing the locks to the home.

The Marshalltown Times-Republican reports police say the woman attempted to get into the male acquaintance's truck, but Thompson started attacking the vehicle with a Japanese katana Sword.

Court documents show Thompson faces a felony charge of going armed with intent and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

Thompson made an initial court appearance Monday and posted his $5,000 bond Tuesday.

A message left Tuesday for Thompson's attorney was not immediately returned.
