Mandatory Evacuation Ordered For Johnson Co. Neighborhoods

JOHNSON COUNTY, Iowa - Johnson County Saturday afternoon announced new mandatory evacuations.

They include Sand Road SE between 560th Street and Highway 22, Lola Lane SE and two properties on Tri County Bridge Road in far southern Johnson County. Those evacuations went into effect at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Voluntary evacuation notices were issued Saturday for Winter Eagle Road SE, River Bend Road SE and Fountain Court SE. Residents along those roads should expect mandatory evacuations Sunday morning, according to Johnson County officials. Homes on Swan Lake Road NE also have been notified of voluntary evacuations.

River Front Estates NE and the area around Izaak Walton Road, south of Iowa City, remain under mandatory evacuation.

Road Closures in rural Johnson County include Sand Road, in the area of the mandatory evacuations, and Swan Lake Road NE. Tri County Bridge Road at 660th Street also has been closed.
