Man Stabbed at Postville Plant
POSTVILLE, Iowa - A Postville man is accused of stabbing another man at a meat processing plant there Tuesday night.
According to a Postville Police Department news release, police and the Postville Ambulance were called to Agri Star at 7 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. After investigating the incident, police arrested 23-year-old John Herrera.
The stabbing victim, 29-year-oold Abdikani Hassan, 29, of West Liberty, was taken to the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Waukon and later airlifted to Gunderson Clinic in LaCrosse, Wis. for “precautionary reasons,” according to the press release. His injury – a single stab wound beneath his left shoulder blade – is not thought to be life-threatening.
Herrera faces one count of willful injury. He is in custody at the Fayette County Jail.
