Shots Fired After Altercation Over Stolen Truck; Three in Custody

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Officials have several subjects in custody after a short pursuit that led to a foot chase Friday afternoon.
According to officials, a man saw his white Ford pick up truck that had been reported stolen, at the intersection of Johnson Avenue and Edgewood Road around 3:30 p.m. An altercation started between the two drivers, and according to Sgt. Cristy Hamblin, shots were fired at the vehicle. No one was injured.
Officials attempted to stop the truck and were led them on a pursuit through southwest Cedar Rapids. The truck knocked down a small tree, traveled through the yard of 1248 19th Avenue SW and crashed into another small tree in the alley between 18th and 19th Avenue.
According to a neighbor who wanted to remain unnamed, she saw a female officer draw her weapon and shout "freeze." She then saw a male officer take down the subject and put him in handcuffs. "They were wrestling for a couple of minutes," the neighbor said.
Police arrested two males and one female in relation with this incident, and their names have not been released yet.
According to Lt. Dominic Wibe, authorities also recovered two weapons from the vehicle.
Authorities on scene were investigating the outside of 1248 19th Avenue SW where the vehicle drove through the yard. There appeared to be a syringe on the pathway to the front door, as well as a pack of cigarettes.
The incident remains under investigation.
