Man Seriously Hurt in Grain Bin Roof Collapse
SLATER, Iowa (AP) - A construction worker has been seriously injured in a grain bin accident in central Iowa.
The Des Moines Register reports that 23-year-old Segoviano Israel Rodriguez, of Storm Lake, was hurt Tuesday evening when the roof of a grain bin he was helping build in Slater collapsed.
Story County officials say Rodriguez was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines with possible head and neck injuries. He was listed in serious condition.
The roof collapse was reported shortly after 6 p.m. at the Heartland Cooperative on the outskirts of Slater, a town of about 1,500.
Officials say Rodriguez was pinned under debris when the roof of the bin fell. A crane was used to lift the roof, allowing medics to remove Rodriguez.
