Emergency Crews Rescue Boy From Rising Wapsipinicon River
LINN COUNTY, Iowa - Authorities want to stress the dangers of high water. That's because a 12-year-old boy had to be rescued from the Wapsipinicon River Wednesday night.
Around 3:30 p.m. the Linn County Sheriff's Office rushed to Sutton Road about a quarter mile south of Seven Hills Road. Apparently, the boy waded into the river, but couldn't return to shore.
Authorities deployed a boat and managed to rescue him from the swift current. They ask that parents to remind kids flooded roads and rivers are not playgrounds.
