Jackson County Officials Investigate Shooting, Stabbing

JACKSON COUNTY, Iowa - Jackson County authorities are investigating a shooting and stabbing that occurred there Saturday night.
According to a press release, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office took a report of a shooting at 11:16 p.m. on High Bridge Road in northern Jackson County. The woman who called authorities said she had been stabbed and shot in the leg with a gun and the person who shot her was still in the residence.
Deputies said the shooting victim and the alleged shooter are married. During a domestic incident, the husband allegedly shot his wife in the leg with a shotgun and stabbed her in the back. The husband was found in an upstairs bedroom suffering from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the facial area.
Both parties were taken to a Dubuque area hospital for treatment. The husband was later transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Jackson County authorities are withholding the couple's names. The investigation is ongoing.
