Iowa City Woman Accused Of Opening Fake Bank Accounts
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — An Iowa City woman has been accused of opening two different bank accounts under fake names and stealing money.
Iowa City police say 32-year-old Tina N. White was arrested early Thursday.
Police say White opened an account with a fake Social Security number at the University of Iowa Community Credit Union in November 2011. She overdrew money and never repaid it. White is accused of doing the same thing at another bank in October.
In a separate case, White is also accused of stealing money from Hampton Inn while she worked there.
The Iowa City Press-Citizen says White faces a felony charge of second-degree theft and an aggravated misdemeanor charge of third-degree theft.
White remains at the Johnson County Jail. Records do not list an attorney.
