IOWA CITY, Iowa - Cases of robberies in Iowa City are trending up. According to police data through November 1, there have been 33 robbery reports within the city this year. FBI data shows 31 reports in all of 2010, and 18 reports in 2011.
Over the past three weeks police have responded to four robberies across Iowa City where suspects displayed guns. Three of these cases have yet to be resolved. Police said Wednesday they're not sure if any of the cases are related.
The most recent robbery happened late Tuesday night. According to police, a man entered the On The Go BP gas station at 2315 Muscatine Ave. and pointed a gun at the cashier. The employee was uninjured, but the man got away with a undisclosed amount of money.
Officers said Wednesday that they may release surveillance video of the robbery later in the week.
