Iowa City police are looking into an alleged puppy theft at Petland in Iowa City. Owner Ron Solsrud says a woman and a teenager, believed to be her daughter, took a miniature poodle puppy from the store on Sunday, February 10.

“She’s teaching her child how to do this and it just troubles me,” Solsrud said.

Police spent about two hours at Petland reviewing surveillance video Friday afternoon. The woman and the girl have not been identified, but investigators have some leads according to Iowa City police sergeant Vicki Lalla.

“It’s something we’re looking into,” Lalla said.

Surveillance video shows the woman and her daughter in the store playing with a white poodle. The two are later seen with the dog hurrying out the front door.

Anyone with information is urged to call police.
