Iowa City Man Rams SUV Into Another Vehicle

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa City police say an angry and intoxicated man rammed his SUV into another vehicle early Saturday morning, causing about $3,500 in damage.

Reginald Benton, Jr., 21 of Iowa City, is in the Johnson County Jail facing felony charges for the incident, including fleeing from officers, according to police.

It happened about 2:00 a.m. near Gilbert Street and Highway 6, police said.

After ramming the other vehicle, police said Benton sped off, running stop signs and traffic lights. Officers called off the chase, they said, for safety reasons, but later located Benton and arrested him.

According to police, Benton was speeding when he rammed the other vehicle. They said he was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the time of the crash.
