GRUNDY COUNTY, Iowa - A Grundy Center woman is dead and two others injured after an overnight crash.
The crash killed Sheila Cole, 44, instantly. Another passenger, Harvin Rust, 49, of Grundy Center, and the driver Deann Eilers, 44, of Holland, were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for their injuries.
Eilers was driving her 1989 Jeep Grand Cherokee south on Highway 14, about three miles south of Parkersburg at 1:20 a.m. Sunday. She lost control on the ice-covered road, went into the west ditch and slid into a utility pole.
One other passenger, Susan Halbach, 48, of Grundy Center was not injured. The Grundy Center Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the crash.
