GRINNELL, Iowa - Police officers are searching for two 13-year-olds missing since around 7:48 Tuesday morning. That's the last time police say people saw Madeline Jean Otto as she got off the bus at Grinnell Middle School.

Witnesses say they saw her walk toward Lake Nyanza in Miller Park. Investigators believe there she met up with Scotty Wayland Olson a short time later, and suspect the pair may be traveling together to an unknown location.

Otto is described as 5' 4" tall and 120 pounds, with green eyes and short-cut reddish-brown hair. She was last seen wearing a dark-colored sweater-style jacket with a dark gray shirt and carry a tan and red tote bag with a large strap.

Olson is also 5' 4" tall, but 110 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair that is shoulder-length in back. He was last seen wearing a light gray windbreaker with faded blue jeans and black sneakers.

Officials believe the two runaways could be in danger, but do not suspect an abduction or foul play. They ask anyone with information to call the Grinnell Police Department at 641-236-2670.
