GOP Picks Candidate for Empty House District 52 Seat
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa Republicans have nominated a candidate for a special election in a northeast Iowa state House district.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that a special nominating convention chose Dennis Litterer for the House District 52 race.
Litterer was a farmer in the Nashua area for 16 years and now owns an insurance and investment company.
He will face Democrat Todd Prichard, the assistant Floyd County attorney, in the Jan. 22 special election.
The position became open when Democratic Rep. Brian Quirk of New Hampton announced he would resign.
The House district includes Floyd and Chickasaw counties as well as eastern Cerro Gordo County.
