Fire Damages Iowa City Garage; No One Hurt

IOWA CITY, Iowa -- No one was injured when a fire started in a garage in Iowa City Sunday morning.

The Iowa City Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire at 619 N. Governor St. at 1:30 a.m. Arriving crews found smoke and fire coming from an attached garage at the residence.

Firefighters aggressively attacked the fire, which was contained to the garage. Light smoke entered the living area of the residence.

The Red Cross offered assistance to the property owner.

Firefighters said the fire originated in the garage, but the cause of the blaze is not yet known.
