Crews Respond to Iowa City House Fire

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Firefighters responded late Monday night to a fire at a home in the 1800 block of H Street. When they arrived, they found fire in the garage had spread to the house.

Crews were on the scene trying to save the house until around 2:00 a.m. Police on the scene say everyone inside got out safely. There is no cause listed for the fire. Officials estimate the damage to the home to be around $150,000.

The Iowa City Fire Marshal is investigating. Crews remained at the scene throughout the early morning hours to ensure the fire did not reignite.
