Driver in High Speed Chase 'Afraid of Dad'KCCI-TV
NEWTON, Iowa - A high speed chase reached speeds of 140 miles per hour Friday night.
The driver said he didn't stop for police because he was afraid of his dad's reaction to a speeding ticket, according to troopers. The chase started on I-80 near Newton and came to an end in Collins. The driver, 18-year-old Bradley Rabedeaux, told troopers the only reason he tried to get away was because he was afraid his dad would get mad at him for getting a speeding ticket. Trooper Mark Griggs said he's lucky no one was killed. "It's a very fast and dangerous speed, especially since the suspect is only 18 year old," Griggs said. "He doesn't have the capability to probably handle a car at that speed. Thank goodness no one was hurt or killed." Rabedeaux faces several charges, including reckless driving. A 16-year-old passenger was also in the car. Most Popular |
