DES MOINES, Iowa - Six months from now, thousands of cyclists will take off from the Missouri River all the way to the Mississippi River. The 42nd annual RAGBRAI or the Register's Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa is July 20 to 26.

About 9 p.m. Saturday, the 2014 route was announced. Riders will put 418 miles under their tires. They'll start out in Rock Valley and end in Guttenburg. This year's overnight stops are Sunday in Okoboji, Monday in Emmetsburg, Tuesday in Forrest City, Wednesday in Mason City, Thursday in Waverly and finally, Friday in Independence.

Organizers said this year's ride will be a return to small-town Iowa. Only one of the towns included in the overnight stops has a population over 10,000.
