Deer Ends Police Chase, Two Go to Hospital

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Two people are in the hospital following a police chase in the southern part of Linn County that ended because of a deer.

Cedar Rapids Police say the chase started just before 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon near Cheyenne Park on Cedar Bend Lane SW.

Police lost the suspect vehicle near Highway 30, but a Linn County deputy spotted it on Ivanhoe Road.

Investigators say the vehicle hit a deer near the 18-hundred block of Ivanhoe Road, went into the ditch and rolled. Authorities have not released the conditions of the two occupants.

They say charges are pending. The state patrol is investigating the crash.
