Crash Leaves Behind Piles of GoldKCCI.com
GOWRIE, Iowa — Crews are working to clean up an Iowa train derailment near Gowrie.
Authorities said no one was hurt when the Union Pacific freight train derailed about 3:15 a.m. just outside of Gowrie, which is 80 miles northwest of Des Moines. Part of Highway 175 was closed while crews worked to clear the scene. Authorities said the train was loaded with corn bound for Texas. Piles of corn surround some of the damaged freight cars. The cause of the derailment remains under investigation. |
