Child Hospitalized After Being Hit by Truck

FAIRBANK, Iowa - A 4-year-old from Fairbank is in the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after the child was hit by a truck.

Edna Raber of rural Fairbank was playing along Fairbank Amish Boulevard with other children around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Edna ran into the road and was struck by a truck driven by Michelle Kremer of Fairbank. None of the other children were injured.

Raber was taken to Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, and then transferred to UIHC by an air ambulance.

Raber's exact condition is unknown at this time. This incident is still under investigation this morning.

The Buchanan County Sheriff's Department, Fairbank Police Department, Fairbank Fire Department, and Oelwein Mercy Ambulance all responded to the scene.
