NEW YORK (AP) — As the winner of this year's Fourth of July hot dog eating contest at New York's Coney Island, Joey Chestnut gets a mustard-colored belt and $10,000 in prize money.

But he says, "I'd do this for nothing." Chestnut says he's motivated by the prestige of being a champion eater, not by the prize money.

The San Jose, Calif., man known as "Jaws" ate 69 franks -- one more than his previous record -- to take the top prize today. It's his seventh victory in the event -- one more than his former rival, Takeru Kobayashi, who competed today in a different eating contest.

Defending her title in the women's division was Sonya Thomas of Virginia, a 100-pound dynamo known as the "Black Widow" of competitive eating. She wolfed down nearly 37 wieners for a narrow victory.
