CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Eastern Iowans are also continuing to help with the recovery in Washington, Illinois. Wednesday, the Cedar Rapids Salvation Army deployed its canteen there. The canteen is basically a kitchen on wheels. Organizers say this will help feed people who need the help.

"Without electricity for a while sometimes that's usually an issue and each canteen has a generator so they can cook on there and they can hand out all the meals and snacks and keep people hydrated with water and things like that," Major Paul Logan, with the Salvation Army said.

Although the canteen is going to Illinois, the Cedar Rapids Salvation Army hasn't received a request to deploy workers yet. Leaders say that could happen in a couple of weeks.
