Bremer County Jury Convicts Man In Deadly Crash
WAVERLY, Iowa (AP) — A Bremer County jury has convicted a 20-year-old man of two counts of vehicular homicide.
The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that after a six-day trial, Jurors on Tuesday found Alex Pothast of Clarksville guilty of vehicular homicide based on intoxication and based on reckless driving.
The charges stem from a crash on March 21, 2010, when a car driving by Pothast crashed. A passenger, 18-year-old Joshua Young of Waverly, was ejected from the car and died.
Prosecutors presented witnesses who testified Pothast had been drinking most of the night.
Sentencing is set for June 24.
