BOONE, Iowa — Boone police successfully ended a seven-hour standoff overnight, with a suspect who walked away from an Ames halfway house earlier in the week.

Police say 33-year-old Joshua Don Daniels went to his mother's house at 521 Main Street in Boone Wednesday night, threatening to burn it down. Neighbors said Daniels' mother got out of the house safely, but Daniels stayed inside while police and authorities surrounded it.

Police communicated with Daniels with a bull horn overnight, trying to get him to come out of the home.

Around 3:30 a.m., police made entry into the home and arrested Daniels. Officers said Daniels resisted arrest, but no one was injured.
