Board Of Medicine Lifts Restrictions On Council Bluffs Doctor
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Board of Medicine says a Council Bluffs doctor has met its conditions for lifting a hospital practice restriction.
The Daily Nonpareil says the restriction had been placed on Dr. Ruben Altman in June, after a hearing on April 26. The board said Altman's "disruptive behavior included yelling and raising his voice at nurses and other medical providers, swearing, clenching his fist and addressing other health care providers in an insulting and intimidating manner."
Altman says he doesn't swear at people but acknowledged that he has a temper and can get upset about patient care.
The board had fined Altman $1,000 and, among other sanctions, ordered him to complete a behavioral program and have therapy with a board-approved therapist.
