FAYETTE COUNTY, Iowa - Fayette County Sheriff's Deputies along with the Iowa State Patrol say the drivers of both vehicles involved in a Sunday night crash have died.

The Iowa State Patrol says a GMC pickup was heading south on L Avenue while a Ford Ranger was heading east on 80th Street when both trucks collided in the intersection.

18-year-old Dakota Rohde of West Union was driving the GMC pickup, while the Ford Ranger was driven by Shawn Brehme, 28, of Tripoli. Both died as a result of the injuries they received from the crash, and both were transported to the Oelwein hospital by ambulance.

23-year-old Alex Jans of West Union was Rohde's passenger during the crash. The Iowa State Patrol says he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Jans was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and clinics by air ambulance. His condition is unknown. Two children passengers in Brehme's truck were also transported to the UIHC by air ambulance. Both children were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. We're working on finding out their conditions.
