CEDAR RAPIDS - This week a Cedar Rapids family is hoping they can get some closure after the shooting death of a loved one.
More than eight weeks ago, Jesse Saldivar was shot and killed outside a country-western bar near Kansas City, Missouri.
Investigators there say they think they know who shot Saldivar, but have yet to name a suspect.
In the months after Jesse Saldivar died, his family says it's been hard to move forward.
Three-year-old Cameron said it simply, my daddy died.
"He's very upset and just knows he misses his dad, he's been asking a lot about him lately," said Cameron's mother Heather Saldivar.
Heather doesn't have many answers to give her son. Since Jesse's death in Missouri, prosecutors haven't filed any charges, and because of that, they haven't released much about what may have happened.
"Some days we wake up really sad, some days we wake up mad, other days it's just okay," said Heather.
Heather's Aunt, Debbie Grosskreutz, said all they want is answers.
"To move on, we have to close this chapter, and we have no answers to what actually happened," said Grosskreutz.
The Jackson County Prosecutors Office said they haven't decided on charges yet because this case is complicated.
"They keep saying that they're trying to get such a solid case so this guy doesn't walk, so that's all I'm holding on to," said Heather.
She hopes she won't have to hold on, much longer.
A homicide committee will consider the case, and decide if and what charges will be filed. They could meet again as soon as Monday.

to anyone who believes jesse was in the wrong?! until we all know what really happened everyone is speculating and it needs to stop...there is no way that it could of possibly of been self defense cause jesse hated guns.!!! so how does a unarmed man deserve to be shot 3 times? (one was in the back of the head) how do you justify that? (Bobby) so please stop with your accusations against jesse! He was a very loving "family man"...we miss you jesse!! always and forever in our hearts!!

It makes me sick that so many people prefer to blame the victims in these cases. I was told that the shooter is a soldier back from IRAQ and that he is the former Chief of Polices Grandson. If there is any truth in this - does the system get any sicker ??? He surrendered to authorities and admitted what he had done. When there are witnesses to these crimes, there should be no trials....the scentencing should be the only process that occurs and the acutal punishment based on the circumstance.

I'm replying to "Bobby" who replied to my earlier statement. FYI, I've been following the story from the beginning, I went to the same high school as Heather. The only place I saw 'strip club' first come into play was from the comment section. Also, I by no means meant I agree with 'family men' or couples going to strip clubs, I was merely stating the fact that it happens and that people passing judgement need to worry about bigger issues, like Jesse's famiy and hoping they can get some peace.

To Confused?? : If you were following this "story" from the very beginning you would remember the strip club reference. Who cares if it is a country bar, many bars have different kinds of entertainment on varied nights. If lots of family men go to bars till 3 a.m., then they must have a drinking or relationship problems. True "family men" are home with their family at 3 a.m. I feel for the children but this guy does not seem to be completely innocent, there has to be more that hasn’t been said.

Those making silly acusations to the victim need to think first. Indio was an amazing man. No one is perfect. No one deserves to be killed over stupidty. Self defense, are you kiddin? Three shots were fired! Im very blessed to have known Jessie. Heather he is with you and your kids. I know he is close to your heart forever! The shooter will have his time. The system seems crazy right now, but trust they will prove there case. Jessie always has the last word!!!! Love to your family!

Ok, where did it come into play that this took place at a strip club? It was stated in the stories reported it was a country-western bar. Check it out www.whiskeytangokc.com It appears to be a country-western bar to me. People need to stop making hurtful rumors. As for the 'what was a family man doing at a strip club at 3 am comment' yeah, I'm thinking even if this was actually a strip club, he wasn't the first or the last 'family man' to be in one. In fact, married people go together too!

There are still untold facts we observers need to correctly comment about this story. Why was this "family" man in a strip club/bar at 3 a.m.? If the shooter waited for the police and cooperated with them he must have not felt he was guilty of a crime. Was this a drug deal, person hitting on another's spouse, mistaken identity, etc.?The truth will come out eventually and then it will make sense. I feel the person killed must have been either doing something bad or a wrong place/wrong time thing.

If this was self defense.. why did he go his car and get the gun and return to the scene to shoot?? WHY didnt he just go to his car and leave???
Monday, Sep 22 at 12:11 PM Self Defense?? wrote ...
This may very well have been a case of self defense. Usually if it's a murder, they will hold the suspect, in this case he is under investigation and may not file ANY charges agaainst him. Self defense is tricky, but if he TRULY felt endangered, he had the right to take measures to stop the alleged threat. Self defense course 101, you take this when you get your concelled weapons permit. Been there, done that! Now I carry, just in case. I carry large sums of cash for business reasons, justified!

In this country, in this day in age - no one should walk from killing someone in cold blood. And that's exactly what happened. Period!
Monday, Sep 22 at 7:40 AM explination wrote ...
The reason for the delay is because the shooter was a licenced concealed weapons holder and is claiming self defense. That was why he was still on the scene and showed officers the weapon.

I dont understand why they say they "think" they know who the shooter is... he confessedd before his miranda rights were read and pointed to his gun!! How frustrating.....
