EAST DUBUQUE - A Wisconsin couple is desperately searching the Dubuque area for their missing son. Matthew Kruziki, 24, disappeared Christmas Eve morning in East Dubuque.
Kruziki was last seen early Saturday morning. He and a friend were staying at the Julien Inn in Dubuque. So the pair came over here for some drinks. Kruziki left the bar alone and hasn't been seen since. Now his family is looking for answers.
Bill Kruziki is spending the holiday season frantically posting signs of his missing son across two states.
East Dubuque police last saw Matt around 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning along this strip of bars. They say he was drunk and acting strange.
"We had contact with him outside the bar we went to check on him out. He had been basically standing idle for awhile and the bar contacted us wondering what he might be doing," said Steven O’Connolly, East Dubuque Police Chief.
Police then told Matt to head back to his hotel. That's when he left the bar without his coat or wallet. Matt's father doesn't understand why Matt's friend didn't leave with him.
"Why he stayed in the bar when my son was kicked out. Why he didn't go out and give him his wallet and his jacket and say I'll meet you back," said Bill Krusiki.
Bill Krusiki says matt might have had a mental meltdown Friday night. That's because one of Matt's other friends recently died and Matt has a history of anxiety problems.
"As far as I am concerned it's one of two things, he either didn't make it, is in peril or is dead. Or he hooked up with somebody," said Bill Krusiki.
So a father waits for his phone to ring. All the while hoping it's matt's voice on the other end.
"One phone call is all we ask, to let us know that he is okay," said Bill Krusiki.
